1. Why did you decide that you wanted to write this story?
For a long time, I struggled with nightmares to the point that I had to sleep with a light on. Then, one night, on my ceiling was a shadow of what looked like an angel. But there were already so many angel books on the shelves! So, instead, I asked two “what if” questions: (1) What if the creatures who watched over us at night weren’t angels but men and women who’d died a sacrificial death and stayed behind to guard us? And (2) what if nightmares weren’t in our heads but actual creatures feeding off our fears while we slept? And from those two questions, CATCH ME WHEN I FALL was born!
2. What do you do when you’re not writing?
I’m also an editor, so when I’m not writing, I’m probably reading manuscripts or editing manuscripts.

3. Has writing taught you anything about yourself?
Hmm… I’d say that writing has definitely showed me how much you can achieve if you’re not willing to give up.

4. Do you prefer to read physical or digital books? Why?
Definitely physical books. There’s just something about being able to hold the book in your hands.

5. Do you have writing traditions or rituals?
Not really. I know a lot of authors only write with a certain drink next to them or in a specific place, but for me, as long as it’s quiet, I can pretty much find my groove.

6. Do you listen to music while you write?
No, I need it to be silent. I like music too much and tend to get distracted by my favorite songs. But I also think of writing kind of like acting in the sense that you have to become your character to make them feel real. So, I need to be able to hear my character’s voice in my head, and music doesn’t let me do that.

7. Were you a big reader when you were younger?
Absolutely! I’ve been reading since I was four years old. 🙂

8. So what’s next for you?
Hopefully more books! There are lots of plot bunnies bouncing up and down in my head, so I’m crossing my fingers that some of them turn into published books.

9. Is there anything else you want to talk about?
Well, for aspiring authors, I would just say that while the publishing industry has gotten super competitive and difficult to break into, if you have the tenacity to keep improving your writing and putting yourself out there—and never give up—good things will eventually come your way! The only difference between a published author and an unpublished one is that the published author never quit.
