The
Tolkien
Tag

This tag was created by booktuber Andrea Heckler. I tag any and all Tolkien fans who read this to do it for themselves!

1. How did your Middle Earth journey begin?
My mom read the Hobbit to me when I was little. It’s actually part of the reason I’m afraid of spiders. 🙂 Then I read LOTR in the 7th grade for a readathon. I won. 🙂

2. What is your favorite Middle Earth book?
The Unfinished Tales. I love the little extra info that you get from the extended canon.

3. What is your favorite movie?
Peter Jackson’s Return of the King. There’s a reason it earned so many Oscars. But I do love the Rankin/Bass animated Hobbit too.

4. Movies or books?
Duh, books. There’s so much more in there, especially if you include the extended canon. Which I do. (I own almost everything Tolkien had ever written. Almost.)

5. Who are your favorite characters?
Legolas will always be number one, even though he doesn’t get a lot of page time in the books. What can I say, I love elves. I even enjoy the silly Leggy stunts in the movies, if only because it means he gets more screen time. Runners up include: Merry, Aragorn, Eomer, and Gandalf. Also, Thorin Oakenshield and Smaug the Great and Terrible. 🙂
6. What Middle Earth race would you be?
If I was honest I would be a hobbit. I’m small and I love the comforts of home. But I wish I could be an elf.
7. Best actor/character casting match?
Benedict Cumberbatch as Smaug. I mean, that voice! Also Martin Freeman as Bilbo and Christopher Lee as Saruman. That man knows his Tolkien! And of course Andy Serkis as Gollum/Smeagol.
8. What is your favorite place in Middle Earth?
Dude, Hobbiton. It’s beautiful and green. The homes are cosy. It would be a beautiful place to read and enjoy life.
9. What is your favorite quote from the books or movies?
Movie: Sean Bean’s delivery of the line “They have a cave troll.” Kills me every time.
Book: Frodo’s description of the land beyond the Grey Havens. It’s such beautiful writing.
Again, I tag anyone who feels like doing this but especially my fellow Tolkien nuts.
