“When the Dark comes rising six shall turn it back;
Three from the circle, three from the track;
Wood, bronze, iron; Water, fire, stone;
Five will return and one go alone.
Iron for the birthday; bronze carried long;
Wood from the burning; stone out of song;
Fire in the candle ring; water from the thaw;
Six signs the circle and the grail gone before.
Fire on the mountain shall find the harp of gold
Played to wake the sleepers, oldest of old.
Power from the Green Witch, lost beneath the sea.
All shall find the Light at last, silver on the tree.”

-The Dark is Rising by Susan Cooper
I’ve heard many people who were kids in the years before Harry Potter was released say that The Dark is Rising Sequence was their equivalent. The series was originally published in the 70’s and has since gone through many cover changes and a pretty terrible movie adaptation.
When I was younger this was one of my favorite series of all time, maybe even more than Harry Potter *gasp! shock!*. It combined Arthurian mythology with fantastic original worlds, characters, and a badass magic system. Unfortunately in recent years the series has become a bit forgotten. So here’s what I’m going to do: it’s giveaway time!
What you can win:
-One complete set of The Dark is Rising Sequence by Susan Cooper:
Over Sea, Under Stone

Dude. Dark is Rising has always been my favorite. =) I still have the poems from all of the books memorized.

It is THE best! Those were the first poems I ever memorized, followed by the one ring poem in LOTR.
I loved this series so much! My copies were falling apart so I sadly got rid of them. I definitely need to reread these.
Yes! Well good luck! It would be cool if you won a new set.
I really would love the chance to win these. They look super amazing and I love fantasy. And judging by the other comments, this series is right up my alley.
I forgot to say what my favorite fantasy was a child. That's not easy but it's either Harry Potter, LOTR, and His Dark Materials by Phillip Pullman!
Those are all good ones!
Good luck! I'm sure you'd love them.
Harry Potter is still my favorite series.
