Jenna was sure she was long over the boy she’d once loved with reckless abandon, but one look at the steel-eyed Cal Payton has her falling apart all over again. Ten years may have passed, but the pull is stronger than ever… and this Cal is all man.

Cal may have no intention of letting Jenna in, but she’s always been his light, and it’s getting harder to stay all alone in the dark. When a surprise from the past changes everything, Cal and Jenna must decide if their connection should be left alone or if it’s exactly what they need for the future of their dreams.

My Review:

We’re going to jump right in on what I loved and didn’t care for in this great new romance from Megan Erickson!
What I Loved:
It’s a second chance romance! I’m such a sucker for these. After breaking up in high school, Cal and Jenna are thrown back together when she has to move back to her home town to help her family’s company. Cal doesn’t want a serious relationship and figures he’s worn out on raising his younger brothers. After they’re thrown together though, they both start to realize that things aren’t quite as over as they thought.
Cal. Le swoon. He’s great. Gorgeous, of course, but even better he’s a responsible, good person. He’s raised his brothers after their mom left them and is generally a really good guy. I wish there were more love interests like this. Plus, he works on cars. Aaaannnd he has a motorcycle. Being responsible is cool guys!
Jenna. I absolutely loved how smart and independent she was. She’s come back home to save her family’s company and she’s not going to take any crap about it. She whipped everybody back into shape and she was confident in her abilities. And even when things were uncertain with Cal, she knows what she wants and expects out of the relationship.
Not too much drama. Sometimes in romance novels I can get irritated with the drama. It’s just one thing after another until you just want it to stop. But I loved that the problems here were realistic and dealt with immediately. You don’t spend the whole book waiting for them to just fix the problem that’s right in front of their faces. Yay for being mature adults who handle their problems!
The romance! Oh. Em. Gee. Guys, this book is fan your face hot. I adored the chemistry between Cal and Jenna and it was the perfect balance of sexy times and plot. Love love love.
I’m really glad I picked this one up. I really enjoyed the characters and plot of this story and would happily read more books by this author. Definitely pick it up if you’re looking for a fun, satisfying second-chance romance.
