A quirky and engaging journal that celebrates what makes each of us a little weird

Part journal, part activity book, and all fun, You're Weird is a valentine for the inner weirdo in everyone--that part of us that doesn't quite fit in, and secretly isn't even trying. Filled with hand-drawn creatures that are a bit...different...along with lists, writing prompts, activities, and more, it's a delightful and affirming book for creative oddballs everywhere.

In our mass-produced world that wants everyone to fit in and fall in line, these quirky pages give us permission to celebrate what makes us each unique--and amazing.

5 Nuts

Tarcherperigee has been sending me all these fun journals and illustrated guides but my favorite so far has been this one, You’re Weird. I’m a self identified weirdo. I embrace the strange, the oddball, the funky in life. And while a lot of people may turn up their nose I choose to let my freak flag fly. This is the book for people like me.

This book is similar to Adult-ish in its creative journalness. Not only is the art really cute and fun to look at but the activities actually keep my ADHD brain engaged. Not only that but this book is totally relaxing to work on. I’m a high anxiety person so finding things to do to calm my mind is always gold. This book lets me do that while embracing the weird and the random comfortably.

The key to a good journal like this for me is humor. This book has that in spades. The first page gives you instructions like “Tilt your head back, laugh maniacally, pick up this book, and open it.” Don’t mind if I do. Welp, that was weird. And fun!

There’s all kinds of pages to work on in this book. There’s stuff to color, pages to fill in, places to draw, and more. And no one has to see it but you. This book is all for the person working on it. Decorate some hats, talk about weirdo characters, color your brain, make a coat of arms! These are all activities to do in these pages, and they’re all for you.

The best thing about this book though is how it lets your explore yourself freely. It asks you questions about yourself that help make you, you. It’s sort of a book of self discovery, bracketed by creativity and weirdness and fun!

I highly recommend this book for my fellow weirdos, but also people with anxiety or some other brain wiring that needs a little boost once in a while. This is a great book to sit down with, a pile of pens and pencils beside you, and just go to town. A little bit of self discovery can go a long way. As for me, I’ll be keeping a hold of this one for a while when I need some self care.
