The battle for the Crown has begun, but which of the three sisters will prevail?

With the unforgettable events of the Quickening behind them and the Ascension Year underway, all bets are off. Katharine, once the weak and feeble sister, is stronger than ever before. Arsinoe, after discovering the truth about her powers, must figure out how to make her secret talent work in her favor without anyone finding out. And Mirabella, once thought to be the strongest sister of all and the certain Queen Crowned, faces attacks like never before—ones that put those around her in danger she can’t seem to prevent.

In this enthralling sequel to Kendare Blake’s New York Times bestselling Three Dark Crowns, Fennbirn’s deadliest queens must face the one thing standing in their way of the crown: each other.

5 Nuts

I’m always doing this to myself.

I find a series I’m in love with and I marathon whatever’s out until there’s none left and I have to WAIT for the next one. That’s how I felt finishing the first two installments in this series. By the time I was done with ONE DARK THRONE I was immediately read for the next. But months and months were between it and me. Now it’s out, but I don’t have time to read it. Oh whoa is the life of a blogger with a day job.

ONE DARK THRONE somehow manages to be even better than the first book. This was another “listen to the entire thing in two days” sort of situation which left me bereft when it was over. Now, of course, I’m going to have to read the rest of Blake’s backlist sooner rather than later. Boy does that add quite a few to my TBR.

All three queens are at their best in this book, and their best is wonderfully brutal. This series is a feminist’s dream, since almost all of the important characters are women and they are all tough as nails. Piss off a man, you get an angry man in your face, piss off a woman? She’ll be plotting the most perfect of vengeances.

ONE DARK THRONE has plenty of twists and turns to keep you entertained beginning to end, but it also takes firm hold of your emotions and drags them through mud and blood and gravel. By the time you’re done, this book leave you a wreck, and it’s incredible how that feels every time. When a book has that kind of power, you know it’s top shelf stuff.

I don’t know how long it’ll be before I’ll get a chance to read TWO DARK REIGNS but I can guarantee it’s the more urgent section of my TBR. But it’s not over yet, we still have more books to go. And I can’t wait.
