My fave Halloween movie has to be Hocus Pocus. I don't know about book though, so many great ones.
Oh that's an excellent one. Good luck.
I don't have a favorite Halloween read just yet. Between the Spark and The Burn was really creepy romance and I think The Retribution of Mara Dyer will be my next creepy read!
Oh I haven't read either yet. Must get on those.
I donβt read many scary books but my favorite is Downside Ghost by Stacia Kane.
Oh I don't think I've read that one!
My favorite Halloween read is Deep Dark and Dangerous by Mary Downing Hahn, and I love watching Insidious π
Alex @ The Book's Buzz
Oh I haven't read the book but I have seen Insidious. Have you watched the second one?
One of my favorite creepy books is Donners of the Dead by Karina Halle and movie is hands down, Hocus Pocus. π
As in the Donner party? Hocus Pocus is awesome. π
I love anything spooky to read, have too many for favorites, and the original Halloween movie, NOT the crappy remake.
Yes, the original is so much better!
Jason vs Freddy is awesome.
I think that's one of the few of those I haven't seen. Weird.
I love watching the Nightmare Before Christmas (which is great for Halloween AND Christmas) and reading all of Edgar Allan Poe's spooky stories. Thanks for the giveaway! You can enter my Spooktacular Giveaway at From the Shadows. Happy Halloween! π
I watch NBC for both holidays too. I've always had a thing for stop-motion animation.
Harry Potter or Skulduggery Pleasant are my favorite Halloween reads, Hocus Pocus is the best Halloween movie! Thanks for the giveaway! π
I haven't read the Skullduggery Pleasant books but I have heard of them.
I don't have a favorite Halloween read, but I do want to read Man Made Boy by Jon Skovron before Halloween this year. My favorite Halloween movie is between Halloweentown and Hocus Pocus. Thanks for the great giveaway! π
Those are both awesome movie and they're on my ten Halloween movies for younger readers post.
My favorite Halloween read is The Headless Horseman, and my favorite film is Halloween!
Oh, the Legend of Sleepy Hollow? Good one!
Halloween movies always got me! I think Edgar Allan Poe scares me in his stories as well.
Gotta love the Poe.
Anna Dressed in Blood and Halloween Town
Excellent choices.
My favorite movie is Friday the 13th. I watch it EVERY Halloween π
Original or remake? I love the original.
Carrie
Original or remake?
I have lots of scary movies and books. I love to watch the Saw movies and The Amityville Horror. I like all of Stephen Kings books.
I love Stephen King, have you read his son's stuff, Joe Hill?
Hocus Pocus π
Thank you!
Love it! Good luck.
Love the book series Alice in Zombieland! My favorite movie is probably Halloween or something classic.
I need to read those… I love a good classic scary movie.
I don't have any…have lost my desire for anything scary to read or watch lately.
Not everything Halloweeny has to be scary. I wouldn't call, say, Hocus Pocus or the Halloweentown movies scary.
I'm not much of a scary Halloween movie person. I do like watching the Harry Potter movies. I'm such a wimp!
Dede
I don't watch a lot of scary movies. Mostly kids Halloween movies. I'm a nostalgic dork.
I enjoyed Stephen King's The Shining, but the movie really scared me. I will stick with Charlie Brown's Great Pumpkin movie!!!!
Awww I love The Great Pumpkin!
Ever since I was a kid (12 or 13, maybe?), my family's watched Young Frankenstein every year around Halloween. While not particularly scary, it's a tradition, and it's definitely a favorite.
I love Young Frankenstein, have you ever seen the musical? It's hilarious.
My favorite book is Anna dressed in blood by kendare blake and my favorite movie is Hocus Pocus π
So many Hocus Pocus lovers! Lovin' it!
The Halloween movie series! Thank you for the giveaway
Nice! You're welcome, good luck!
My favorite Halloween read is The Raven by Edgar Allan Poe. Movie? Definitely Hocus Pocus
I wrote a pretty cool paper on The Raven, good choice!
Mary DeBorde
For good ol Halloween atmosphere, you cannot beat The Haunting of Hill House by Shirley Jackson!! And for a movie … ANY thing w/zombies lol – I really enjoyed WWZ, Dawn of the Dead, and the original B&W Night of the Living Dead π
World War Z was awesome, and weirdly better than the book. I feel so weird when that happens. I need to watch more zombie things.
I love Disney movies. I am not into scary books but I do love paranormal the non gory ones! Like ones with the killer descriving how they kill people.
What Disney movies do you watch around Halloween? I have a ton. π
The nightmare before christmas is my fav movie and i really love lbba bray's the diviners book
I really need to go back and read Diviners again. Good choices!
I *love* the Evil Dead movies. Typical blood and gore stuff just kind of bores me, and I don't really get spooked from them. Tried watching The Shining with a friend, and he was shocked that I was yawning… π B-movies are fun and silly and keep me engaged. For reads, I tend to read what I always do. Something paranormal/magical. There's not a book that I go back to every Halloween π
I've been meaning to get to the Evil Dead movies, I'm running out of time this Halloween. Oh well.
I love It by Stephen King.
Thanks for the amazing giveaway!
Book or movie? The Tim Curry movie is more funny than scary.
I like The Shining for both.
Shining movie or Shining mini series? π
I love so many! I am a horror movie and book buff! I love World War Z, Shaun of the Dead, The Horde, Hostel, etc. Mostly I love zombies.
World War Z and Shaun of the Dead are awesome!
Any Stephen King book is a good Halloween read and I love the Charlie Brown Halloween tv special! Thanks for this amazing giveaway – I would love to win!
Suz Reads
The Great Pumpkin one? I love that one. π Good luck!
The Shining
The Shining is a popular one. π
For Halloween I do not have a favorite read. I try to read 1 new scary book each October though. We love to watch Hocus Pocus each year as a family.
That's a good tradition to have, maybe I'll borrow that one.
My favorite Halloween movie is Nightmare Before Christmas, I watch it every year on Halloween (and on Christmas Eve too). My favorite Halloween read would be anything by Stephen King, although It is among my favorites.
Nightmare is definitely a double holiday movie! π
I actually don't have a favorite for Halloween. As long as it is paranormal I like it usually.
Paranormal is always a good choice.
My favorite read is anything by Stephen King (w/one exception). I don't really have a favorite movie. That's kind of sad, isn't it?
What's the exception?
My fav read is Curse of the Wendigo by Rick Yancey and movie is Sleepy Hallow! π
Mary G Loki
I haven't read that one but I love Sleepy Hollow.
My favorite movie is Hocus Pocus and my favorite read is anything by R.L. Stine.

Edgar Allen Poe.. and I'm a wimp so Halloween cartoons.. or the Addams Family. lol
There's nothing wrong with that!
I just watched Ernest Scared Stupid with my grandson(new to him). I don't guess I have a favorite Halloween book. I read books by Barbara Michaels and she deals with a lot of scary stuff. On the adult side of scary movies…Mama Is wicked. π Thanks for the giveaway.
I've never seen more than 10 minutes of an Ernest movie but we have a couple Barbara Michaels books on our shelves.
Winterkill favorite halloween read and the Shinning favorite halloween movie.
