The
Creatures
of the Night
Book Tag

This tag was started on Youtube by my favorite Booktuber, Katytastic. Since Kat’s video there have been additions to the tag so I’ll put those at the bottom.

Basically for each category you need to choose a book that features the creature. If I have one for the book, I’ll also tell you who my favorite of the creature is in the book.

The Originals (From Kat’s video):

Vampire

The Vampire Chronicles by Anne Rice were my first foray into the world of vampires. These are vampires at their best and the mythology behind them is beautiful. Lestat is my favorite vamp.

Werewolf

I’m going to go with The Mortal Instruments by Cassandra Clare on this one. I don’t read a lot of books with good werewolf characters but then I remembered Luke. Mmmmm Luke.

Zombie

Those things in Ann Aguirre’s Razorland Trilogy are zombies, right? Because the only other zombie book I’ve read is World War Z and (weirdly) the movie was better.

Ghost

I’m gonna be weird and choose Harry Potter for ghosts. Because Peeves. How can you not like Peeves? Also, these books have TONS on great ghost characters.

Witch/Wizard/Warlock

The Bane Chronicles because Magnus Bane. Technically I haven’t read them all, or ever read them in book form. But I have read a few of them and I’m saving Infernal Devices for something else.

Fairy/Fey

Well I’ve only read the first one but Julie Kagawa’s Iron Fey series. Actually I should reread those, I don’t remember a thing about it.

Demon

Now I can use Infernal Devices. The demons in the Shadowhunter books are complete dickbags but I really enjoy them.

Angel (which is a creature of the light, bro)

Crap, I don’t think I have one for this. I have a bunch of angel books but I haven’t read any of them.

Edit: Thought of one! Melissa de la Cruz’ Blue Bloods series.

Alien

Tin Star by Cecil Castellucci. If you read it you know who my favorite is I think. 😉

Superpowered Human

The Heroes of Olympus books by Rick Riordan. As much as I enjoyed the Percy Jackson books, the powers get so much better in the second series. I love Leo and Jason. That’s right I didn’t say Percy!

The Additions (From others’ videos):

Dark Lord

The Grisha Trilogy by Leigh Bardugo. I’m a Darkling girl, what can I say?

Elf (How are elves creatures of the night?)

Lord of the Rings by JRR Tolkien. The elves in these books are powerful and graceful and they’ll also kill you before you can even blink. I mean come on, Legolas is a badass bowman.
