News: John Green Releases New Book

The Fault in Our Stars author John Green has been a little quite on the book writing front since the release of the bestselling novel in 2012. Now, halfway into 2017 John Green has announced his newest release since TFIOS titled Turtles All the Way Down.

For anyone unfamiliar with the phase, “Turtles all the way down” relates to cosmology and is attributed to Stephen Hawking. In more common uses it describes a sort of circular logic that never ends. Leave it to Green to reference something relatively random and obscure in his title.

The release of the book was announced at VidCon, a YouTube convention begun in part by John’s own brother Hank. The release of the book is slated for October 10th of this year, surprising many people who would have expected a larger gap between the announcement and release. As usual, Green’s newest book will be published through Dutton, an imprint of Penguin Random House.

According to an article on the Penguin Teen website:

Turtles All the Way Down begins with a fugitive billionaire and a cash reward. It is about lifelong friendship, the intimacy of an unexpected reunion, Star Wars fanfiction, and tuatara. But at its heart is Aza Holmes, a young woman navigating daily existence within the ever-tightening spiral of her own thoughts.

Green himself has spoken about suffering from OCD and anxiety and as such seems to have put an extra special piece of himself into this latest novel.

Though I personally find John Green novels to be hit or miss (having loved 2 out of his 4 released solo works and greatly disliked the others), I am very excited to see what he will do with this latest novel. You can bet that I’ll be grabbing Turtles All the Way Down on October 10, 2017.

From my shelf to yours,

Erin
